HHS’s 2025 AI Strategic Plan prioritizes trustworthy, reproducible health AI

HHS positioned AI as a coordinated public–private priority. For research software, the relevant themes are trustworthiness, reproducibility, and workforce readiness—not product marketing claims.

What HHS published

On January 10, 2025, HHS released the Strategic Plan for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health, Human Services, and Public Health.

Public summaries highlight four goals:

  1. Catalyze health AI innovation and adoption
  2. Promote trustworthy AI development and ethical use
  3. Democratize AI technologies and resources
  4. Cultivate AI-empowered workforces and cultures

The plan also organizes work across domains such as medical research, product development/safety, care delivery, human services, and public health (wording varies slightly across briefings).
